Cambridge ESOL
We are delighted to have the sponsorship of Cambridge ESOL for our teacher campus. During your course you will have the opportunity to meet some Cambridge ESOL staff and learn more about their ever increasing portfolio of exams and teaching awards. Cambridge exams
Cambridge ESOL is the leading provider of EFL exams throughout the world, and they test general English skills and knowledge. Many of you will know some of their most popular exams:
- Proficiency in English (CPE)
- Certificate of Advanced English (CAE)
- First Certificate in English (FCE)
- Preliminary English Test (PET)
- Key English Test (KET)
There are also exams for Young Learners called Starters, Movers and Flyers.
IELTS
Cambridge ESOL is also responsible for the IELTS exam which is used thousands of universities to assess the level of a student and decide whether a student is ready for high level academic work.
Teacher qualifications
Cambridge ESOL is also the leading provider of teaching awards such as the DELTA, CELTA and ICELT. You may be particularly interested in the Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT). This is a test which focuses on the core teaching knowledge which is needed in the English language teaching classroom.
There are three modules, which you can take separately:
- Module 1 — Language and background to language learning and teaching
- Module 2 — Planning lessons and use of resources for language teaching
- Module 3 — Managing the teaching and learning process
There are currently two additional modules:
- Knowledge about Language (KAL)
- Content and Integrated Learning (CLIL)
