Who is this course for?
Teachers of English with a good standard of English (Common European Framework Level C1) who wish to extend their own knowledge of the language and culture and who wish to reflect on the teaching of intercultural awareness.
Course aims
- Explores different aspects of modern British life and culture
- Investigates ways of teaching cross-cultural awareness in the classroom
- Incorporates guided visits to important local sights in Cambridge
- Provides opportunities to build up a portfolio of authentic materials to support the cultural component of your teaching
- Develop exciting teaching ideas on how to use the materials.
Course Programme
The course is taught through a series of informal discussions, lectures, seminars and workshops as well as some onsite visits.

- The city of Cambridge
- The historic university and its life
- Youth culture
- Multi-cultural Britain
- The arts, including a visit to some Cambridge museums
- Cambridge in literature
- Pubs - a look at everyday life
