Bedgebury attractions

Bedgebury is situated in Kent, an area of outstanding natural beauty, surrounded by attractive villages and towns. Royal Tunbridge Wells, a historic spa town, well-known for its beautiful architecture, restaurants and shops, is only 20 minutes away, while Hastings, a cosmopolitan coastal resort is just 30 minutes by train. London is easily accessible and there are also plenty of activities on offer in and around the extensive grounds of the Bedgebury estate.

  • Bedgebury estate – Generous facilities for sports and activities are available within the Bedgebury grounds. From tennis and football to kayaking and abseiling, there’s plenty for students to do in these beautiful surroundings. Next door, the tranquil Bedgebury Pinetum has a world-leading collection of conifers and an exciting treetop obstacle course.
  • Tunbridge Wells – Royal Tunbridge Wells has been attracting visitors for 400 years, since the chance discovery of the Chalybeate Spring by a young nobleman in 1606. The spa resort that developed here reached its height during the Regency period, giving large parts of the town beautiful architecture and lovely parkland. The Pantiles, an elegant colonnaded parade of shops is an icon of Georgian times and today is full of interesting boutiques and antique shops, open-air cafés, bars and restaurants.
  • Hastings – A pretty coastal resort, Hastings combines a fun day at the English seaside with several historic sights. Discover Regency architecture in Pelham Crescent by the castle ruins, 15th century timber-framed houses in All Saints Street and local history in the Fisherman’s Museum and Shipwreck Heritage Centre. Don’t forget to sample some fish and chips while you are here, a classic British meal.
  • Other places of interest – Kent has many castles and stately homes which make a great day out and introduction to British history. Hever Castle, Leeds Castle and Chartwell (Winston Churchill’s home) are among the many recommended sights.
